With support from the Arcus Foundation, the Board Members of Nyasa Rainbow Alliance (NRA) held a meeting on the 25th of November 2023 at Max and Sherry Lounge in Blantyre.
The Executive Director of Nyasa Rainbow Alliance informed the Board about the support that NRA has received from the Arcus Foundation and other donors for the next two years which will focus on the improvement of documentation and reporting of cases involving human rights violations of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ+) communities and escalation of redress of such cases by relevant institutions in Malawi.
At the end of the meeting, Members of the Board proposed the replacement of two Board Members who are no longer sitting on the Board by the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held in accordance with the organization’s constitution. The Board also recommended that NRA staff members and Members of the Board should always include the vision and mission of the organization in their narrative to familiarize themselves with it.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Board Members were delighted to have this opportunity and support from the Arcus Foundation and other Partners which they believe will go a long way in addressing the plight of the LGBTQ+ community in Malawi.
