With support from the Arcus Foundation, Nyasa Rainbow Alliance (NRA) on 8-9 December 2023 embarked on a transformative team-building exercise that went beyond the conventional bounds of retreats. This team-building exercise happened by the waves of Lake Malawi, at Dalitso Resort in Mangochi.
This exercise was meant to strengthen the bonds that form the foundation of the organization’s commitment to positive change. NRA’s team played games and bonded outside of the office space. Team members participated in icebreaker activities and encouraged open communication and vulnerability that cannot be broken through in the office setting.
NRA’s team-building exercise was not just a quick getaway; it was a transformative journey that brought together staff with a shared passion for making a difference. As the team returned home, they carried with them not only memories of a beautiful destination but also strengthened bonds and a collective commitment to creating a better more unified society. The exercise was a testament to the power of teamwork and the profound impact it can have on NRA’s dedication to creating positive change.
The team building exercise ended with reflections and setting future commitments for the organization. Each team member shared their insights and takeaways from the experience. The discussions centered around how these newfound connections and insights could be integrated into the NRA projects. The exercise concluded with a renewed sense of purpose, a stronger sense of unity, and a commitment to developing positive change in the LGBTQIA+ community in Malawi.
