MENTAL HEALTH TRAINING ATTENDED BY OUR CLINICIAN

Nyasa Rainbow Alliance clinician attended a mental health training on 24th to 26th June, 2024 at Crossroads, Lilongwe which was organized by Centre for the Development of People (CEDEP) which was facilitated by experienced mental health workers from Saint John of God Mental Hospital. The training was tailored for service providers working with key populations.

Several topics were covered that would equip the attendees with skills to navigate issues such as psychological evaluation, suicide, depression, alcohol and substance abuse and resources and provision of mental health aid to key populations.

The training was highly informative, offering both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for effectively addressing mental health issues within key populations. The expertise of the trainers from Saint John of God Mental Hospital was invaluable, and the interactive sessions provided a platform for engaging discussions and knowledge sharing.

The end of this training was shared recommendations for the attendees such us continuous training, resource allocation, the importance of collaborative efforts, monitoring and evaluation and most importantly community awareness on the subject matter of mental health.

Our clinician was equipped with skills and enhanced his understanding and capability in providing mental health services to those that seek support from Nyasa Rainbow Alliance.
